Articles from Magasinet Psykologi
Between 2011 and 2015 I worked as a freelance journalist and wrote a number of portrait interviews for Magasinet Psykologi — a Danish magazine on psychology somewhat similar to Psychology Today. At the time, it was published as a printed magazine once a month.
Here I have gathered a small selection of the articles I myself am most fond of, and which I feel still hold up today.
They range from my very first article — an interview with the Danish actress Ghita Nørby, one of the most well-known and respected figures in Danish theatre and film, which was later quoted in the Danish tabloid newspaper Ekstra Bladet (“Ghita Nørby spent fortune on psychologists”) — to an interview with the “nun” Sister Anna Mirijam, who was largely unknown at the time but later became a familiar face in Danish media.
The series also includes a portrait of the American psychologist Elaine Aron, the woman who defined the psychological concept of the Highly Sensitive Person, which became my final article in that particular context.
In addition, there are interviews with the Swedish alternative therapist Anette Carlström, who returned from a journey to India so filled with joy that she found it difficult to function in everyday life; the Norwegian author Kathrine Aspaas, who believes we are moving towards a more generous era; and the Danish storyteller Marianne Christensen, who used storytelling to find her way through the grief after losing her husband.
The articles are reproduced as they originally appeared at the time, so please note that not all facts may still be up to date.
